What if education was universal and we all taught the same things in the same way. We all share the same hopes and dreams for our children, why don’t we train them to be adults in the same manner as every other country?
What if, we had a NATO for education?
We each want the same outcome, why can’t we agree to invest all our our knowledge and experience together as united countries to teach our children toward a common goal?
What if unity and hope was a world promise?

England has something similar. I am not sure the details but I know my ex-husband had his college education paid for…they also provide housing, and health coverage and an income. This has been enabling for many. Sometimes working hard for something is more rewarding. It is the journey, not the destination, that we remember the most.

The children who you comment on about not having the word knowledge or experiences to be able to identify the meaning of “attic”is not just because of a language issue but because houses have changed and the world in whichwe live in has chnaged and that which we encounter in our “normal” lives has changed and the test questions have not. The formal assesments we use to evaluate a child’s current academic level are the same questions I used on my neice when she was 5 and I was training to be a special educator. She is 21. The world evolves but what we question children about in general terms should really be classified as history.

How very sad that our government’s priority is to make “good little soldiers” who can’t think on their own vs. bright, independent thinkers…If Cuba or China said the same, it would be all over the US news as “training your kids to be soldiers”…but if done by the US govt then it’s perfectly ok? Very , very sad…
